Intelligent Color Protection for Beverages

Prevent Fading. Maintain Vibrancy. Ensure Quality.

IMBEVIA Color Stabilizer intervenes in photo-oxidative reactions to protect synthetic food colorants from degradation caused by sunlight, heat, and time.

Why Colors Fade

Artificial food colorants (such as Brilliant Blue, Carmoisine, Allura Red, and Ponceau) are highly sensitive to environmental factors. Exposure to UV radiation, oxidizing radicals, pH variations, and high temperatures causes the breakdown of functional color groups. This not only leads to unappealing color fading but can also result in the formation of heavy carbon residues and carcinogenic compounds.

The IMBEVIA Solution

IMBEVIA Color Stabilizer acts as a protective shield. It works by neutralizing the factors that contribute to degradation (such as UV light and oxidation), ensuring that your beverage looks as fresh on the shelf as it did on the production line.

This product is specifically engineered for:

  • Carbonated Soft Drinks (CSDs)
  • Beverages containing Fruit Concentrate (Note: Fruit concentrates significantly accelerate color fading; IMBEVIA is essential for these formulations).

Formulation & Usage Guidelines

Implementing IMBEVIA Color Stabilizer is simple, but specific conditions must be met for maximum efficiency:

  1. Dosage: The suggested concentration ranges from 0.35 to 0.5 grams per kilogram of the final beverage product.
  2. Mixing Sequence: Add the stabilizer supplement to the syrup and ensure complete dissolution before adding the colorant.
  3. Formulation Adjustment: It is highly recommended to remove Sodium Citrate or similar salts from the formulation to prevent interference.

Proven Results

Our spectrophotometry tests demonstrate high color retention percentages after 24 hours of exposure to artificial sunlight. Tests compare formulations with and without IMBEVIA, across beverages with and without fruit concentrate, proving its efficacy in preventing photo-oxidative decolorization (e.g., stabilizing Brilliant Blue FCF).

Questions? You’re covered

01. What is the recommended dosage, addition method, and key formulation tips for Imbevia Color Stabilizer?

The optimal usage rate is 0.35–0.5 g per kg of ready-to-drink beverage (the higher end is often recommended for fruit-containing formulas). Add it directly to the syrup stage for complete dissolution before introducing artificial colorants. To maximize effectiveness, remove sodium citrate or similar buffering salts from the formulation. Integration is simple—no special equipment is required—ensuring easy adoption in existing production lines with no impact on taste, aroma, or pH.

The primary cause is UV/sunlight exposure, which leads to photodegradation and oxidative damage of synthetic colors (such as Brilliant Blue, Carmoisine, Allura Red, and Ponceau 4R). Imbevia Color Stabilizer dramatically improves color retention—up to 10× better after 24–72 hours of artificial sunlight exposure—providing exceptional protection for light-sensitive dyes.

By blocking degradation reactions, Imbevia Color Stabilizer preserves vibrant, intense, and consistent color throughout extended storage and distribution. It reduces batch-to-batch variation and keeps the beverage looking fresh and premium at the point of sale—even under challenging conditions—helping maintain marketability and consumer appeal for longer.

Beyond visual stability, it helps prevent the formation of potentially harmful aromatic compounds resulting from dye breakdown, contributing to safer products. It delivers reliable performance across various formulations (including those with fruit concentrates, where the higher dosage provides enhanced protection) and performs best when paired with citric acid levels of 1.3–1.6 g/L.

Imbevia Color Stabilizer stands out for its powerful light protection (up to 10× better retention), prevention of harmful degradation byproducts, extended shelf life, ease of use, and zero sensory impact—making it highly effective for carbonated soft drinks, juices, and other colored beverages. Evaluate performance using side-by-side testing: expose protected and unprotected samples to controlled artificial sunlight for 72 hours, then measure color retention with a spectrophotometer. Results consistently demonstrate clear superiority in protected beverages, with strong customer feedback highlighting improved color consistency and premium appearance.
